Sound - Part One.

2034396669_92ee5ac63f_f.jpgThis set of pictures is the first in a two part series shot back in January of 2007 with Lindsay Ferguson. Lindsay and I had been trying to find a break in our schedules for what seemed like years. So we finally just said “let’s spend the day together out in the country!”. What we didn’t plan for was the amazingly warm weather. So we wondered around the beautiful town of Wakefield Quebec for the afternoon shooting all over the place. In front of the lake, around the Mill, etc. So many amazing locations. We cut it short to head back to a house she was babysitting to relax and eat. Nothing makes food taste better than working in the country! We had a spontaneous idea to do a Lindsay Unplugged video. So Lindsay grabs her guitar, I grab my video camera, and we shoot this video here.
Then we head into the bathroom to take some shoots of Lindsay that people weren’t expecting. In the bath! Is she nude? I’ll never tell! heh.
So head on over HERE to check out the full set of part one pictures.
And on a side note, seeing pictures of the gorgeous Lindsay is one thing, but you just have to hear her incredible voice and music to really appreciate the wonder of Lindsay. She’s just released her first full length Album, so you can either go to her web site and check out some tracks, or go to the iTunes Store for previews.
And of course it’s available on iTunes HERE.

Pooja Kumar on Law and Order!

pooja_kumar_svu_01.jpgSo I’m watching Season 8 of Law and Order SVU, (Special Victims Unit). I’m at episode 12 and across the screen flashed this face I thought I recognized. Sure enough I do! It’s Pooja Kumar! Who is she? Well a few years back, (2004) I did some photo work with JoSH on they’re Baan Far Kay music video, (shot in Montreal). You can check out those pictures HERE.pooja_kumar_svu_02.jpg
That’s when I meet Pooja, she was the star of that video. During the breaks in shooting I did interviews with everyone, (including Sugar Sammy). Pooja and I hit it off right away. Literally with 5 min left in the break Pooja and I snuck out back to the alley way and did a mini photo shoot. Believe it! You can see one of the pictures here. Simply amazing. So the years pass and all of a sudden she’s in Law and Order! How cool is that! Congrats Pooja! You can see the Baan Far Kay video HERE.
And I know I’ll get in trouble for this, but here is the little known interview video with Sammy and Pooja.

Canada’s New DMCA - Worst Copyright Law

As a canadian, and someone who has there own material out in the public, I find myself obligated to share this not so tiny news items that has caught my attention today. The Globe and Mail is reporting that “The government of Canada is preparing to attempt to bring a new DMCA-modeled copyright law in Canada in order to comply with the WIPO treaties the country signed in 1997. (These treaties were also the base of the American DMCA.) The new Canadian law will be even more restrictive in nature than the American version and worse than the last Canadian copyright proposal, the defeated Bill C-60. Among the many restrictive clauses in this new law, as Michael Geist explains, is the total abolishment of the concept of fair use: ‘No parody exception. No time shifting exception. No device shifting exception. No expanded backup provision. Nothing.’ Geist provides a list of 30 things that can be done to address the issues.”

Secret photo archives of the Mutter Museum.

51i1kzfenvl_aa240_.jpgThe Mutter Museum has a historic archive of medical photographs, most of which have never been shown publicly. Blast Books have published a book of 200 images originally taken to illustrate medical and pathological conditions. As editor Laura Lindgren says, “Many of these photographs document unusual, sometimes nearly unimaginable, challenges of disorder, disease, and injury. A great many of these photographs are disquieting, yet they are equally moving in their portrayal of how these people endured their fate. A few photographs demonstrate the limited relief that medical science at the time was able to offer and thus show how very far medicine has advanced.”

Montrix - A crush

274452533_e470295c22_m.jpgPosting picture set is a treat, for sure, for me and I’m sure you the viewer. I often hold sets back so I can tell the story about the people involved. Get a little background going on what made the pictures turn out the way they did.
I originally didn’t plan to write one of my little stories for this shoot. All my shoots have stories, in one way or another. This time I wanted to let the pictures speak for themselves. Then I realized that there are some pictures here that look like duplicates. Maybe I couldn’t make my mind up? That would be a fair assumption.
While photographing Pascale I think I might have developed a crush on her!. For the life of me I couldn’t sort through and eliminate the good pictures from the not so good pictures. I liked them all! So I just gave into the feelings this muse was causing in me and did what my heart told me.Featuring the amazing Pascale Filion with make-up by Catherine Legare.
